Stranger Creek Flooding Roundtable

Rural Leavenworth, Inc. invites you to a roundtable discussion concerning Stranger Creek flooding, including its history, costs, abatement strategies and available intergovernmental resources.
Featured presenters include:
• **Thomas J. Flynn**, Trustee, Greater Stranger Drainage Board, will discuss recent flooding history, the drainage board’s responsibilities and the basis for its mill levy.
• **Kourtney Parks**, Lower Kansas River Watershed Coordinator, will discuss soil-health practices that may reduce flooding impacts and agricultural damage. She will also cover resources and funding opportunities for landowners and local governments, previous Kansas actions addressing flooding and water quality, and possible future legislative actions.
• **Jennifer Henggeler**, Planning Branch, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers–Kansas City District, will explain how USACE partners with local communities to address flooding. Topics will include potential project cost sharing, federal-interest requirements, benefit-cost analysis, life-loss assessments and infrastructure limitations.
