Join the American Royal and the Shawnee Mission School District’s Broadmoor Bistro culinary program for “From Roots to Rising Chefs,” an evening celebrating the connection between agriculture, education and culinary excellence.

Before entering the kitchen, Broadmoor Bistro culinary students will visit a local farm to learn about the care, stewardship and agricultural practices involved in raising the chickens featured on the evening’s menu. Guests will enjoy a thoughtfully prepared meal while hearing how the students’ experiences on the farm shaped their understanding of food production and influenced their work in the kitchen.

The evening will include a mix-and-mingle gathering at the urban farm, live music from the Shawnee Mission South Jazz Band, welcome remarks and dinner at Broadmoor Bistro. The farmers market will also be open.

Funds raised through the event will support the American Royal’s hands-on food and agriculture education programs, experiential learning opportunities and initiatives for future chefs and agricultural leaders. Proceeds will also support the Broadmoor Bistro competitive barbecue team.

This is an alcohol-free event. Tickets are $125 per person, and seating is limited.
