DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the arrival of migrating monarchs at the annual Monarch Watch Fall Open House! \nThis free\, family-friendly event will feature tours of Monarch Watch’s laboratories\, gardens and Monarch Waystation #1. Visitors can learn how to create monarch habitat and explore the butterfly and pollinator garden maintained by the Douglas County Master Gardeners. \nActivities will include: \n• Garden and laboratory tours\n• Games and educational activities\n• Monarch-tagging demonstrations\n• Live monarch butterflies and caterpillars\n• Information about Monarch Waystations and pollinator conservation \nThis will primarily be an outdoor event. Visitors are encouraged to bring their cameras and explore the gardens while monarchs and other pollinators are active.

SUMMARY:Monarch Watch Tagging Event
DESCRIPTION:Join Monarch Watch\, the Lawrence Bird Alliance and the Baker Wetlands Discovery Center for a free public monarch-tagging event at the Baker Wetlands. \nParticipants will receive nets\, tags and instructions before heading into the wetlands to carefully capture\, tag and release monarch butterflies continuing their migration to Mexico. No previous tagging experience is required\, and participants of all ages are welcome. \nMonarchs are often roosting or clustered during the early morning before they begin foraging as temperatures rise. Participants who have their own butterfly nets are encouraged to bring them\, although nets will also be available. \nThe event will be held rain or shine.
