SUMMARY:Cover Crop Field Day – Ellsworth County
DESCRIPTION:Join the Kanopolis Reservoir\, Big Creek\, and Middle Smoky Hill River WRAPS groups for a Cover Crop Field Day in Ellsworth County. Registration begins at 5:00 p.m.\, and the tour departs at 5:30 p.m. A complimentary supper will be provided. \nPresentations and field discussions will cover: \n• Benefits of cover crops during seasonal droughts\n• Producer perspectives on why cover crops matter\n• Nutrient management\, including grid sampling and variable-rate application\n• Incorporating grazing livestock into cover-crop systems\n• Water-quality protection benefits \nFeatured speakers include Augustine Obour\, K-State soil scientist\, and Logan Simon\, K-State southwest area agronomist. \nParticipating producers include Jeremy and Charlie Kootz; Trent Nienke; Taylor and Daren Lang of Lang Cattle & Grain; Ernie Binder and family of Pleasant View Farms; and Mike Younger. \nRSVPs are appreciated.
