DESCRIPTION:Are you planting cover crops and wondering what comes next? \nJoin the Kansas Soil Health Alliance for two full days of hands-on education and networking focused on building resilient\, profitable farming and livestock systems. The Kansas Soil Health School is designed for producers who are beginning their soil health journey and are ready to take the next steps in their operations. \nEducational topics will include: \n• Introduction to soil properties\n• Soil biology and nutrient cycling\n• Grazing cover crops\n• Hands-on grazing activities\n• Soil and plant testing\n• Hands-on soil health assessments\n• Equipment modifications for soil health\n• Livestock collars and other on-farm technology\n• Farmer perspectives on soil health challenges\, successes\, and profitability \nRegistration is $100 and includes meals\, snacks\, a resource binder\, soil health books\, and additional educational materials. SUMMARY:2026 Make a Splash Topeka Water Festival
DESCRIPTION:Kansas WRAPS is pleased to share the 2026 Make a Splash Topeka Water Festival\, hosted by the Kansas Association for Conservation and Environmental Education (KACEE). \nThe annual festival gives Topeka-area fourth-grade students an opportunity to explore water through fun\, hands-on educational activity stations. Students will learn how water travels from rivers to their faucets\, ways to conserve water\, how communities keep water clean and healthy\, and how to stay safe while enjoying Kansas waterways. \nApproximately 1\,000 students participate in activities designed to strengthen their understanding of water’s importance and encourage lifelong stewardship of this shared natural resource. \nThe festival will be held Thursday\, September 17\, 2026\, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Garfield Park in Topeka. \nThis event is designed for participating fourth-grade classes. SUMMARY:Farm to Table: From Roots to Rising Chefs
DESCRIPTION:Join the American Royal and the Shawnee Mission School District’s Broadmoor Bistro culinary program for “From Roots to Rising Chefs\,” an evening celebrating the connection between agriculture\, education and culinary excellence. \nBefore entering the kitchen\, Broadmoor Bistro culinary students will visit a local farm to learn about the care\, stewardship and agricultural practices involved in raising the chickens featured on the evening’s menu. Guests will enjoy a thoughtfully prepared meal while hearing how the students’ experiences on the farm shaped their understanding of food production and influenced their work in the kitchen. \nThe evening will include a mix-and-mingle gathering at the urban farm\, live music from the Shawnee Mission South Jazz Band\, welcome remarks and dinner at Broadmoor Bistro. The farmers market will also be open. \nFunds raised through the event will support the American Royal’s hands-on food and agriculture education programs\, experiential learning opportunities and initiatives for future chefs and agricultural leaders. Proceeds will also support the Broadmoor Bistro competitive barbecue team. \nThis is an alcohol-free event. Tickets are $125 per person\, and seating is limited. \n[Purchase tickets]
